D'R AF
Splotter Con 2024 Special Edition
Rules (not the updated ones)
We’re excited to announce that we will be publishing a 2024 Splotter Con Special, Limited Edition of Splotter’s 1997 small-box game, D’r af!
D’r af is a three to five player game designed & originally released by Splotter in 1997, simulating a crazy, uncontrolled race on a crowded highway. Speeding ahead, you cannot always see what is ahead of you — in fact, other players will put lots of dangerous obstacles on the road right in front of you. It would be safer to go slowly, but if you lag behind, you’re out of the game. The game ends as soon as one of the cars reaches the end of the table. This may take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the distance to be traveled.
This 2024 Splotter Con Special Edition is initially being released to Splotter Con 2024 attendees (only 100 copies will be printed of which only 72 will be on sale via our website). It features entirely re-conceptualized artwork by Jan Lipiński, artist on other bangers like John Company: 2nd Edition , Horseless Carriage, and Splotter’s forthcoming new edition of Indonesia. No substantive rules changes were made to the original as it is incredibly fun as is; however, we did update some of the iconography and terminology, and cleaned up the rules a bit. If you’ve never played, D’r af is a small-box game on the lighter side.
The cover art (to the left) is very close to what the final product will look like. We’re still finalizing details with the manufacturer so we do not have a firm estimate on the overall cost of the project yet. But because it’s such a limited print run, it won’t be as cheap as some might expect. We’re hoping to keep it ~$70 (cheap for a Splotter!)
